About Elana Cohn
Elana Cohn was born in the USA in 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and with her family immigrated to Israel in 1967. Sculpting has always been her calling, even as she was educated as a lawyer and became a member of the Israeli Bar Association, practicing law, working and raising four children. Together with her husband, Anatoly, she is a co founder and full time associateof APCO Aviation Ltd., a leader in the field of sport aviation. During the past year Elana has channeled more of her efforts towards developing her art and returning to her real passion. She has many cast bronzes to her name, including figurative pieces and busts. In recent years, she has deepened her love for light, and its' many creative possibilities, and has focused working with fused glass, in a myriad of applications: by combining traditional bronze castings and ceramic pieces with elements of fused glass, by meshing fused glass with silversmithing, by creating artistic fused glass Judiaca, and by designing one-of-a-kind fused glass jewelry pieces: pendants, earrings, bracelets, and brooches. . Elana has also developed "window jewelry", that uses unique, almost invisible tape to affix beautiful reflective fused glass pieces to windows, mirrors, showers, etc., creating eye catching, light transferring "jewels", that add color and uniqueness to any surface, transparent or not.

Elana is also involved in the specialized field of Medallic Art, and has made many medals, both commemorative and decorative. She has participated in several international medallic art competitions, and recently executed a series of 30 glass medallions celebrating Anima Spiritus Violin, in honor of Issac Stern, including homages to Marc Chagall. A member of FIDEM, she has also submitted her work to Medallic Art competions in Portugal.

Elana has studied sculpting, drawing composition and calligraphy in the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv, and is a graduate of a four year program of the "Basis"school of Sculpture, in Israel. She has also studied under Alexander Serber and Gal Weinstein as well, and completed advanced studies in metal welding, fusing, ceramics, lampworking and silversmithing.
For inspiration Elana draws on her continuing challenging life experiences living today in Israel, motherhood, marriage, and her solid background in Judiasm. A nature lover, and hiker, she has traveled extensively worldwide, and brings her life experiences to her art.
